What are the Mira Awards?

TechPoint’s Mira Awards are Indiana’s largest, best known and most prestigious technology awards. A grand total of 276 people, products, companies and places have been honored with coveted Mira Awards over 23 years, and they’ve gone on to become the state’s greatest tech successes.

The 2022 Mira Award winners will be announced live and in person during our ball gown and black tie gala held at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis on Saturday, April 23, 2022.

Why should you enter the awards?

Being a Mira Award nominee is a big deal. Past nominees and winners alike have secured new venture capital, signed new customers, and hired exceptional new employees because of the exposure and gravitas that comes with participating in the awards.

Participating in the Mira Awards:

• Attracts New Customers — IVM, Inc. closed a sales deal with Fortune 500 company HP after winning an Innovation of the Year Mira Award.

• Increases Sales — Tech Product of the Year winner Heliponix could barely make GroPods fast enough to keep up with demand following the awards gala and expanded manufacturing operations earlier than expected.

• Boosts Recruiting Efforts — Schneider Geospatial hired a top engineering leader, support and services staff, and an entire sales team after being named Tech Service of the Year winner.

• Opens Doors with Investors — Founder Amy Brown won the Rising Entrepreneur Award, which led to important investor relationships, seed funding and Series A capital rounds for Authenticx.

• Draws Analysts and Media — DemandJump attributed oversubscribing its $1.8 million seed round and catching the attention of research analysts from Intelligentsia, Forrester and Gartner to winning two 'Best of Tech' Mira Awards.

• Improves Brand Awareness — Winning Startup of the Year helped Lessonly establish its tech credentials with partners, media and potential new employees.

• Creates a Rallying PoinT — According to Exceptional Employer Award winner GadellNet Consulting Services, the serious and thoughtful review process is unbiased validation that you’re doing good things for the tech community. “The world needs more good … let the Mira Awards be one of those shining lights for you and your team,” said CEO Nick Smarrelli.

"I’m very fortunate to have been a Mira Award winner and nominee a number of times with ExactTarget and Compendium and now with ClusterTruck, and it’s incredible every year seeing how much the community has grown and how important the economic impact of technology is to the state of Indiana.

The Mira Awards are one of the main times every year that everyone is listening and watching the tech community and it’s great to see how many people are participating and how many successful companies are a part of this awards program."

— CHRIS BAGGOTT, COFOUNDER OF CLUSTERTRUCK

Winner of Innovation of the Year & Startup of the Year Awards

Can I nominate someone else?

If you know someone deserving recognition, simply complete the 30-second nomination form and we’ll reach out to them and invite them to enter. Any company, startup, scale-up, city, school, organization team or individual can apply for a Mira Award. It is not required that an applicant be nominated by someone else to enter the awards.

NOMINATE SOMEONE

How are nominees and winners selected?

Fifty-two independent, volunteer judges review and rank all entries. Next, judges’ scores determine which ones will advance as nominees and present their achievements to four-person panels during live interviews. Following their deliberations, the judging panels choose the winners for each category.

Does “Mira” stand for something?

The Mira Awards are named after the first of the brilliant variable stars to be discovered—the Mira Star. Mira is also the Latin word root meaning worthy of admiration, wonderful, marvelous.
